Jerusalem’s new governing coalition, which will likely be confirmed by the Knesset tomorrow, has promised to introduce a constitutional reform that would allow the legislative branch to override the Supreme Court in certain cases. As Moshe Koppel and Yonatan Green both argue, such a change would limit the high court’s current unchecked authority—which was never granted to it by the country’s laws—to strike down legislation for whatever reason it sees fit.
