There have been several reports of Israeli airstrikes on Iran-linked targets within Syria over the past few days, and even of the IDF forcing Iranian planes headed into Syria to reverse course. One of the advantages of Israel having signed a cease-fire not with its actual enemy, Hizballah, but with Lebanon is that Israel is free to operate against Hizballah in Syria.

But the question remains of whether last week’s cease-fire is a victory for Israel, or a dangerous compromise that leaves Hizballah in a position to reestablish itself. And what will the future bring when the truce expires and Donald Trump is the American president? To address these questions, Yaakov Katz speaks with Elliott Abrams. (Video, 33 minutes.
