Last week, the president nominated Brett Kavanaugh to fill Anthony Kennedy’s seat on the Supreme Court. In conversation with Jonathan Silver, Mitchell Rocklin argues that Kavanaugh’s record suggests he will be inclined to defend religious liberty, particularly on issues pertaining to education. Rocklin goes on to discuss the current public conversation concerning freedom of religion, the American left’s abandonment of its once-solid commitment to this freedom, and the legacy of Justice Kennedy.
