The Challenges of Jewish Adult Education https://mosaicmagazine.com/picks/religion-holidays/2018/02/the-challenges-of-jewish-adult-education/

February 26, 2018 | Erica Brown

Drawing on her years of experience teaching classes and organizing programs for Jews eager to learn more about Judaism after completing their formal schooling, Erica Brown addresses the common flaws in American Jewish education and how they can be fixed. In particular, she warns against the “march of the Jewish cliché”—that is, the way in which rabbis and adult educators offer a “warm bath of familiar phrases and slogans” instead of exposing their audiences to the richness and intellectual complexity of the Jewish tradition.
