About the author: Jon D. Levenson is the Albert A. List Professor of Jewish Studies at Harvard University and the author of Inheriting Abraham: The Legacy of the Patriarch in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (Library of Jewish Ideas; Princeton University Press).

Resurrection plays a central role in Christianity, but it is also a belief with a long pedigree in Judaism. In conversation with Pastor Cliff Sekowe, Jon D. Levenson explains the history of Jewish ideas of resurrection, from the prophet Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones and Daniel 12, through rabbinic Judaism and beyond. Among other topics, Levenson discusses what biblical resurrection implies about the Jewish view of God, the Hebrew Bible’s concept of human identity, and the difference between resurrection and the immortality of the soul.
