In his review of the Tony-winning play Oslo, Neil Rogachevsky addressed the illusions about human nature, diplomacy, and Yasir Arafat that led to the much-celebrated 1993 agreement between Israel and the PLO. Now he discusses the deeply flawed process that led Prime Minister Yitzḥak Rabin to give territory and arms to the Jewish state’s bitterest enemy without first consulting Israel’s national-security establishment or experts in Arab and Palestinian affairs.
