Writing in the New York Times, the Israeli novelist Etgar Keret bemoaned the fact that relatively few people showed up at rallies protesting the murder of two Palestinians in the West Bank and the stabbing of a participant in Jerusalem’s gay-pride parade. Evelyn Gordon notes something odd about Keret’s argument:

On December 20, a Palestinian waited in a wooded area near a Jewish village in northern Israel in the hope of encountering a victim. Soon enough he spotted Esther Horgan walking home from an evening jog and killed her by beating her with a rock.
