In Ukraine as in the Holy Land, civilization sits precariously on a field sodden in blood. Israel understands this. Does the White House? 

The young Muslims violently denouncing Israel in London, Paris, and elsewhere cannot bring down the Jewish state; but they pose the greatest possible problem for Europe.   

Geography aside, it is Israel that is still truly a Western country and is fighting for Western values—while the West, slowly but surely, is drifting. . .

According to the Russian president, the West is in the grip of a religious and ethical breakdown—a weakness he fully intends to exploit.
