A Great Jewish Sage’s Sermon on the Six-Day War and the Jews’ Return to History

Fifty-three years ago, Joseph B. Soloveitchik, one of the outstanding rabbinic minds of the last century, addressed the Rabbinic Council of America on the subject of Israel’s stunning victory in the Six-Day War, just a few weeks prior. In these “tremendous” events, said Soloveitchik—drawing on Genesis 3:8—“we hear the footsteps of the Almighty walking in the historical Garden of Eden.” (Video, 10 minutes.)
